Considering youth as the human being’s first quality and everything that this feature means, like: beauty, fighting spirit, ambition and „rudeness in good meaning of the word” (Octavian Paler) being as many reasons as youngsters take initiative and involve in the life of the community they belong to, the youngsters from the county of Gorj organized into The Federation “Gorj Youth Forum” forward new proposals for development the future youth actions from our county.  

In the neighbourhood of the local elections from 2004, to the round table youth NGOs, the candidates from the local parties to the elections, mass media, we all emphasised the problems that our youngsters face with. We all tried to find solutions, and youth NGOs representants were promised a lot.

The first objective that we bring into the attention of the interested local “actors” is implementing to the level of our county and to the level of Tg-Jiu Municipality of a funding programme that aims to support the youth activities from the local budgets.

The same programme successfully implemented to the municipality of Oradea from 2000, but also to other towns or counties such as:  Harghita, Iasi, Sibiu, Cluj etc, is now in the hand of the County Council of Gorj and the Municipality of Tg-Jiu.

We do not invent anything through this programme. Others have invented this modern system of supporting youth initiatives (Oradea) implementing a model for Romania. This programme was implemented also in other parts of Romania where they could find some trash of respect for what we all consider the future of Romania, the youth generation.

But why to implement this kind of programme here in Gorj if we can rest peacefully until the next elections and then, write before the vote, to promise once more to implement this programme…

We, the representants of youth generation from Gorj can show satisfaction regarding the steps ahead that the Municipality of Tg-Jiu made, but not the same thing can be said about the County Council of Gorj that is very much delaying the implementing of the programme.

And at the same round table we discussed about identifying the actions in order to create in Tg-Jiu a Students House. A lot of promises!... We do aspect now to have concert steps into this direction. Now it is the moment to forget about words and to ACT!

Almost all the candidates from then said “Yes!”, “we will support this proposal”, more than that, some of them continued the electoral campaign using as top motto this idea.

And we, as we don’t have anything else to do better, we try to remember them about their wards and promises…

Hopefully this phenomenon that consists in forgetting the electoral promises do not affect to much the relations between the authorities and youth NGOs.

We also continue to believe that implementing models regarding the partnership from Local Public Administration and NGOs is the solution for supporting local youth initiatives.
